There are many wonderful math resources available today, and every child learns differently. While I personally love math, I eventually realized that loving math and teaching math are often two very different things. At times, math lessons were becoming a point of frustration in our home and occasionally causing tension between us.

After much thought and prayer, we decided to transition to online math lessons, and it truly changed the atmosphere of our homeschool day. Our days became more peaceful, and, perhaps most importantly, our children began genuinely enjoying math again.

For grades 1–2, we personally enjoy using Life of Fred]or making our own math stories. Alongside gentle hands-on practice. The story-based format keeps math lighthearted and engaging during the early years.

For grades 3 and up, we have especially appreciated Teaching Textbooks. The independent format has brought a great deal of peace to our homeschool rhythm while still giving the children a strong math foundation.

This can be a wonderful option for children who learn well through simple explanations and do not need lengthy instruction. Some children become overwhelmed by too much explanation and thrive when concepts are presented clearly and directly.
